HOSTLINE Joins LINX: Direct Peering at the London Internet Exchange

HOSTLINE Joins the London Internet Exchange (LINX)

HOSTLINE has officially joined the London Internet Exchange (LINX). By connecting directly to one of the world’s largest and most respected internet exchange points, HOSTLINE takes a significant step forward in its mission to deliver enterprise-grade infrastructure to businesses across the UK, Europe, and beyond.

What is LINX?

The London Internet Exchange (LINX) is one of the world’s leading internet exchange points (IXPs) – a neutral, carrier-independent platform where networks interconnect and exchange traffic directly. By removing the need for third-party transit providers, LINX delivers measurably better routing performance, lower latency, and higher overall network reliability for its members.

The Implementation

The process began with capacity planning and traffic analysis to determine appropriate port speeds and redundancy requirements. Based on projected traffic profiles and future growth expectations, we provisioned dedicated high-capacity connections into the LINX fabric.

Physical connectivity was established via diverse fibre paths to the LINX point of presence, ensuring path redundancy and eliminating single points of failure.

Following the configuration, the integration underwent staged testing, including:

  • BGP session validation – We established and monitored stable connections with our routing partners and internal systems. These checks ensured that communication between networks remained consistent and reliable under normal operating conditions.
  • Route advertisement and acceptance verification – We confirmed that our network was correctly announcing its IP ranges and receiving only approved routes from peers. This step helped prevent misrouting and ensured traffic would flow only through trusted paths.
  • Traffic engineering optimisation – We adjusted routing preferences to direct traffic along the most efficient paths, including prioritising LINX where it made sense. This improved overall performance while maintaining cost-effective network usage.
  • Failover and resilience testing – We simulated network interruptions to verify that traffic would automatically reroute without disruption. The results confirmed that services would remain stable even in the event of unexpected failures.

After successful validation, production traffic was gradually introduced to the exchange, with continuous monitoring to ensure optimal latency, packet loss performance, and route stability.

The result is a direct peering presence at LINX that improves routing efficiency, reduces dependency on upstream transit providers, lowers latency to key networks, and strengthens overall network resilience.

What This Means for HOSTLINE Customers

Peering at LINX enables HOSTLINE to exchange traffic efficiently with hundreds of global networks – translating directly into tangible improvements for every customer:

  • Lower latency – Traffic is exchanged at the IX level, eliminating unnecessary hops and delivering a noticeably faster end-to-end experience.
  • Greater network resilience – Access to a diverse peering ecosystem creates redundant paths and significantly reduces single points of failure.
  • Optimised UK & European routing – LINX’s London presence gives HOSTLINE a strategic advantage in one of the world’s most traffic-dense regions, improving performance for a vast share of our customer base.

“Joining LINX is a natural next step in scaling our network capabilities. It strengthens our UK and European presence while giving our customers the low-latency, high-reliability connectivity they expect as we continue to grow.” – Martynas Zvirblis, CEO, HOSTLINE

Looking Ahead

This milestone is part of HOSTLINE’s broader long-term strategy to expand its global network footprint. The company will continue to invest in infrastructure partnerships that directly benefit customers – more peering relationships, more resilience, and more coverage across key markets.
